Tejo regional wines in Moscow

hhyghgExquisite and mysterious, soft and smooth, flavored and rich – this is all about wines of Tejo region which have managed to capture all hearts around the Globe.

On the 15th of April in Moscow Swissotel was held the wine salon of Tejo wines (Portugal) which has already become traditional. The salon was held under the slogan “Tejo wines. Fall in love”.

Winemaking region Tejo is located in the very heart of Portugal. Its wines have been respected by experts and amateurs for three centuries now. Mild climate of the region facilitates to produce 600 000 hl of flavored and aged wines. This spring in Moscow 7 wineries were presented:

Adega Cooperativa do Cartaxo, Casa Cadaval, Casal Branco, Casal do Conde, Falua, Quinta da Alorna, Quinta da Ribeirinha

 

The presentation of the region began with master-class for the specialists of wine market. The speakers were: the president of the International Center of Wine and Gastronomy, Leonid Gelibterman and Irina Godunova, sommelier and candidate of biological science. Participants of the master-class managed to evaluate different samples of Portuguese wines from such grape varieties as Arinto, Touriga Nacional, Fernão Pires, Alicante Bouschet and other. Master-class drew attention of the specialists so much that some of them were even intended to participate while standing.

The main part of the event was the professional tasting on the Swissotel 29th floor which was visited by more than 130 specialists of alcohol market of Moscow and regions of Russia, among them were the representatives of alcohol companies and journalists.

The program of the event was concluded by the gastronomic dinner, organized in honor of the Russian importers by the Comissão Vitivinícola Regional do Tejo (CVR Tejo) with the support of Embassy of Portugal in Moscow. Dishes from the “Russian table” menu were served with the accompaniment of Tejo regional wines. The gastronomic pairs were specially matched by Russian and Portuguese experts. Each Portuguese winery presented to the evaluation of the participants its own samples: Conde de Vimioso, 2013 (Falua), Сasal do Conde Alvarinho, 2013 (Casal do Conde), Quartilho, 2011(Casal Branco), Quinta da Alorna Reserva, 2013 (Quinta da Alorna), Vale de Lobos Syrah, 2011(Quinta da Ribeirinha), Padre Pedro Reserva, 2010 (Casa Cadaval) и Bridão Reserva, 2011 (Adega Cooperativa do Cartaxo).  The guests enjoyed the dinner at the height of 29 floors with breathtaking view on the evening Moscow.
