October 1-2, 2020, regional semi-finals "Arctic" of the Russian national competition "Masters of Hospitality" were held in Salekhard (Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Region) - a project of the presidential platform "Russia - country of opportunities" and the National Union of the Hospitality Industry (OSIG).
39 participants from 11 regions of Russia took part in the event, which took place in the only city in the world located directly on the Arctic Circle. 23 contestants represented Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Region, the rest - Arctic regions, St. Petersburg, Central Russia and even Krasnodar.
In addition to the President of the International Center of Wine and Gastronomy, jury included: Nail Khairullin, Director of the YNAR Department of Youth Policies and Tourism; Menshikova Tatiana, Deputy Head of the Department of State Tourism Projects and Tourism Safety (Rostourism); Serikov Anton, head of the directory for partner collaboration of "Russia - the country of opportunities"; Melnikov Dmitry, general manager of the Igora resort; and Anatoly Kitsura, vice-president of Mikhailov & Partners.
On the first day of the competition, President of the ICWAG, Leonid Gelibterman held a master class for the participants and gave several interviews to federal and regional media. On the second day, he acted as a project expert at the first two stages and as a jury member of the final stage of regional semi-finals.
For two days, the contestants performed individual and group analytical tasks, presented their projects in the field of tourism and hospitality. Following the results of two days of competition, 12 people reached the Moscow finals.
In addition to the business part of the semi-finals "Arctic", contestants were able to plunge into special atmosphere of the northern city, visited famous sights and even became guests of a chuma, where they tasted national dishes of the northern people.
The regional stage in Salekhard completed the on-premise part of the semi-finals of the Masters of Hospitality competition, the next online semi-finals will be held from Irkutsk.
Winners of all regional semi-finals will meet in finals, which will take place in Moscow in October 2020. As a result, 50 laureates will be identified who will receive certificates for a special training program at the Skolkovo School of Management, and they will also be able to undergo internships in government bodies, leading specialized campaigns and organizations.
